Our Story
Avalon Acres began in 1995, where Lorinda & Solly set out to farm one acre of 17 focusing on sustainable practices and a commitment to eliminate the use of pesticides entirely. In 1997 they expanded their reach by having a stand at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market, where they share their harvest as well as connect with the community. Not only growing through the dedication to the land, but also through collaboration. Such as students from James Madison University participating in the efforts. Creating a warm, welcoming environment towards people and the living systems that sustain healthy soil, from beneficial microbes to diverse plant life.
